Training Workshop objectives

The LIPS workshop will provide a platform for local stakeholders to share their experiences with colleagues from around the world. The workshop is also designed to promote the transfer of Lean Thinking to other areas of public governance and service delivery, with the aim of considerably enhancing the quality of services provided. With its multitude of benefits and wide-ranging applications, Lean is a promising investment for the future of infrastructure projects in any country.

The workshop will provide training in the fundamentals of Lean in public sector projects, the Lean Government Framework and foundational Lean principles and practices. It will be a collaborative workshop involving presentations, case studies, experiential learning simulations and discussions.

Prof. Amr Abdel-Azim Prof. Amr Abdel-Azim Chair of Lean in the Public Sector (LIPS), Detroit, Michigan, USA

He is a leading figure in facilities planning, Lean transformation, and large-scale campus development. He is Sr Director of Design and Construction at Wayne State University. As Senior Architect at Michigan State University, he has led major international projects, including the creation of the American University of Sharjah's 330-acre campus and MSU's Dubai campus. With over 15 years of experience across the U.S. and Middle East, Amr is recognized for driving strategic capital programs and delivering innovative, human-centered built environments.

Prof. Dr. Tariq Abdelhamid Prof. Dr. Tariq Abdelhamid Chief Lean Performance Officer, Associate Professor of Lean Construction, Michigan State University, E Lansing, USA

Dr. Tariq Abdelhamid is a globally recognized Lean expert, trained by LCI founders Greg Howell and Glenn Ballard, and co-founder of the Lean Construction Journal. He has led major Lean/IPD transformations, including the first Integrated Lean Project Delivery project at a U.S. public university. Tariq advises international design and construction teams on Lean implementation, relational contracting, and high-performance organizational culture.
